How Are The Cookies Packaged?

All cookies come individually heat-sealed and packed in a white window bakery box with colorful shredded paper.

Are The Cookies Soft?

Yes! While the royal icing has to harden a tad bit in order to dry, the actually cookie has a soft bite.

What Goes Into Making A Custom Order?

  • Planning: Researching and creating designs to match your theme. This often times includes drafting up sketches and back and forth communication with the customer. Most sets require custom cookies cutters. This includes designing the cutter, 3D modeling it/creating an STL file then creating a G-Code file so my 3D printer can print it. Each custom cutter takes over an hour to print but it brings the whole set together!
  • Dough: Next I mix up my homemade dough recipe and chill it to avoid spread. I roll it out to the perfect thickness (because nobody wants a skinny cookie!) and bake it to perfection so it has a soft bite.
  • Icing: While the cookies cool, i'll whip up fresh royal icing. EACH icing color needs to be mixed and then separated into 2 piping bags. The first bag has a thicker consistency for outlining. The second bag is a looser consistency for flooding. Florals need an extra thick consistency and need to be prepared in a piping bag with the correlating tip in order to achieve the desired design.
  • Decorating: Each cookie needs to be outlined and flooded. There are various techniques used in decorating which vary how long it takes to decorate. Some examples are airbrushing, stenciling, writing, edible printing, projecting/tracing and many more! The multiple layers of design often requires you to wait for certain icing parts to crust over before adding other details. Decorating takes hours but it's the whole magic behind the final product! (And the fun part!)
  • Drying: Once decorating is finished, each cookie needs to dry for 24 hours.
  • Packaging: Each cookie is placed into a cello bag and heat sealed for freshness. Each cookie is then placed into the bakery boxes, ingredient labels added and bow cut and tied. Ta-da!
  • Clean Up: Now let me tell you! Between the million bowls and spoons from icing mixing to the baking mats and pans, the messiest part is the icing by FAR. Picture a Dexter scene but with colored icing EVERYWHERE! But what can I say, I didn't choose the cookie life - the cookie life chose me. ...And i love every bit of it!

How Long Will My Cookies Last?

Once heat-sealed, cookies are freshest for up to 2 weeks. I have had customers tell me that they saved a cookie a month later and it was still soft and tasty!

How Do I Store My Cookies?

Store cookies at room temperature. Do NOT place in the fridge! Refrigerating the cookies can cause the design to ruin once they are brought back to room temp.

Are Printed Cookies Easier To Make?

Contrary to popular belief, printed cookies are not the easier option. Whilst they have their benefits, the edible printer and ink cartridges have their own high cost and require upkeep.

Each design needs to be perfectly aligned on the cookie and each print needs to have color matching to the customers original image. This can require a lot of trial and error.

Photo printing can also require graphic design work if a customer would like an original design for the likes of a party favor or memento for a special event.
